When I was a little girl I always wanted to be on stage in a national pageant. Who knew it would be the Mrs. United States pageant!
I am so honored to represent New Mexico and my family this year. This experience has truly changed my life. I have challenged myself in so many areas. I had heard it would help push me out of my comfort zone. That is an understatement!
As a woman, wife and stay at home mom I didn’t feel like I could have made much of an impact. Like a lot of moms, I felt a bit invisible to the outside world. I had no idea that I could make a difference for anyone.
I lost my baby weight, bought some false eyelashes, got a spray tan and took on the world. While some would say those things are superficial the results were not. I learned so much about myself and who I want to be. With the help of Sarah Baca at the New Mexico Autism Society I learned how to spread autism awareness and acceptance. I know that there are many who make an even bigger difference than I ever did without a tiara and sash. They are the true heroes. However, this is my journey and somehow I got to do it with a sparkling tiara. I am so thankful for this experience.
